Every household in rural China has a caaaaaahoe. It is an essential part of working life for Chinese farmers.Every morning and every evening, farmers all walk to and from work with their hoes slung over their shoulders.
A hoe is quite simply a tool to dig up the ground.A long wooden stick with a metal attachment stuck on the end of it.It looks and sounds very simple, but it is an essential part of life on a Chinese farm.
My home has a few old and worn hoes.We originally planned to get rid of them, but my grandfather said we couldn't throw them out.He said these hoes have been with him for many many years, and he couldn't bear to get rid of them.He also added that he is their master!
We didn't have a choice really.Grandfather is an old farmer, all he knows is how to use his hoe, morning and night.
Maybe in other people's eyes hoes are just a farming tool, but in my grandfather's eyes a hoe is a special invention. It's as special to him as our hands are to us...
